Furious 7 is the latest installment of the Fast and Furious movie franchise. It is the last movie from the late Paul Walker who played the character of Brian in the series. It was a bittersweet movie experience. As expected the action was high paced and done very well, as an unexpected bonus the humor was kicked up a notch and supplied the audience with plenty of laugh out loud moments.
The storyline between Dom (Vin Diesel) and Leti (Michelle Rodriquez) had a few gaps that could have been addressed. Tyrese was offered up as the comic relief and did a great job at it. Ludacris was subdued in this film, not as outrageous as he has been known to be in the past few films.
Jason Statham as the bad guy, was relentless and brought the action in every scene. His fight scenes were crisp, clear, and exciting. As much as I love this guy, he plays a good villain.
Hodge (The Rock) was his same dependable character that proved loyalty within the Fast Franchise never fades, a cameo by Lucas Black rounded out the entire series being represented.
There was a bit of melancholy feel to the entire movie. You could sense the passing of Paul Walker effected each of the actors greatly. Unfortunately there is only so much magic editing can do, so both of Paul Walker’s brother’s stepped in to help finish the movie, by being stand-ins and doing the stunts as their brother had done so many times before.
Tears of sadness streamed down my face as I watched the movie and could see the parts that had been filled in. It may be due to my background in film that I noticed, but it was still amazing to watch.
The movie over all was what you would expect from the Fast and Furious franchise. Action-packed, comedy, and even a little romance to satisfy any audience member. The tribute they pay to Paul Walker is simple, sweet, and perfect.
I give this film 4 out of 5 Lizas :)
